~Wednesday Morning, a Recap of My Tuesday Stories~

Its way too early to have my end of day headache. Maybe theres a logical explanation for feeling like theres a giant vice grip on my head. The pressure, uck, theres not a good word for it, not a real word for what this feels like, its more of an aarrrgh, or a blemeccch, or a large OWWWWW. The usual, I feel the need for a visor, all light is too bright, sounds too loud, I want to do neck rolls, slowly, use acupressure, that little spot between thumb and forefinger, but I know nothing is going to work, not yet.

Today started out loud, major loudness, Did you see ____ last night?, Hey, did you watch ____ last night?, it was TV central. I told you last night was a good night for TV. Penelope watches 24 now, and since she knows I watch, she turns to me and asks me if I saw, gets this excited look in her eyes, so we discuss it, what I can remember. That show jumps all over the place. And Dennis Hopper joins the cast next week (which I already knew cause I read it in Entertainment Weekly weeks ago, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nah!).

Gilmore Girls was good, as always, and in so many ways I think the writing gets better and better with each episode. I love the Jess character! Not just because hes young and cute, but because hes literate, the guy READS! (I loved his debate with Paris about the Beats vs. someone like Jane Austen, and how poetry sucks, Say it already!, too funny), and hes intelligent, which can go along with reading, and hes caring, but doesnt want people to know, he wants to be tough, but its clear hes a big softie under his gruff exterior, and hes a bad boy, who wants to stay bad, and he is in love with Rory, but he is semi-respectful of the fact that she has a boyfriend, but also not oblivious to the fact that she is clearly falling in love with him as well. And all of this sucks big time for Dean, who is also in love with the lovely, intelligent and literate Rory. Dean, poor puppy dog Dean. Jess is far more the match for our friend Rory, but she loves Dean. Maybe she and Dean can be friends???

Big sigh right here. Oh, its so good. Young love, filled with hope. Mmmmm I hope Rory ends up with Jess, but I dont want Dean to hurt too badly. Is this possible? Damn, it makes for good television. Not that the Lorelai and her mom storyline is not good as well. Lorelai getting her mom to steal the bathrobe at the spa as part of a bonding ritual was too funny. And the line about getting casino food was good too shes right, its classic: steak and Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail have you been to Vegas? I have. Not that I ate casino food, but its advertised all over the place.

Real World Chicago is just sleazy garbage, but its entertaining sleazy garbage, if thats possible. Watch the lesbian run around the house naked, sit on the toilet where everyone can see, annoy the roommate who obviously hates all of this. And poor misguided Kara. What is her deal? She has an eating disorder, an obscured and deflated body image, which coincides of course, and she sleeps with men for empowerment?? How many times did she use that word in last nights episode? I felt so sorry for her, but I think she will grow and find her way eventually, at least I hope so. I hope she discovers that true empowerment comes from within, its independence, its not using sex with strangers and ex-lovers as a way to accept ones self. Shes a mess though. Serious issues there.

Oh, but watching Tony Bourdain wander through London, in A Cooks Tour, eating weird shit and sucking on cigarettes was priceless. My favorite part was him hanging out with that freaky chef, Fergus, the guy with eyes going in different directions, and the limp (did you see the limp?!), the guy who says, Innards and extremities, theres a lot of goodness there ooooo, creepy! So, he cooks a feast for our intrepid consumer of comestibles, Tony, and Tony, being the trooper he is, eats it all, with glee, with lustful enjoyment! Oh yes, ox heart, trotters (pig hooves), pig tails (not to be confused with pigtails, nor ponytails), pig head (yes, the cheeks are so yummy, Tony informs us), and the tamest of all, the roasted bones with creamy marrow to spread on toast. Now theres a well-balanced meal!

Holy moly. Ive been thinking about it though, and had I been there with him, with our seeker of all thats exciting and new, and even all that is centuries old, in the world of food, our man Tony, I wouldve had a bite here and there. Sure, Tone, Ill taste it. Just a bite. I might even discover something new and wonderful, Hey!!! That pig eye is good!

I almost forgot the part where Tony and his Indian/English friend Mona (nice Indian name there) and Monas mom go to the Indian market and get ingredients to prepare an Indian feast, which Tony does not help prepare because he feels he cant compete, and doesnt want to, and hes afraid of pressure cookers!!! Monas mom cant cook without hers, and the shots of the pressure cooker, the closeups of it bubbling away, cut with the closeups of Tony looking terrified were too funny!

After my Tuesday night of TV was over, I was sad. Aw, thats it? Its over?!

And I figured out the deal with my VCR and Guiding Light, and it aint pretty. Looks like when I set the clock ahead an hour I set the day back. How and why, I dont know, but I had it all set to tape GL on Monday, but it mustve said Sunday, because yesterday I had it set to tape, for Tuesday, which it was, but when I went to re-set it last night, for today, I noticed it said Monday, not Tuesday, which it still was last night. I actually missed two GLs in a row, something that I havent done for years. I am not kidding. Even when Ive traveled, throughout the years, Ive set the VCR, Ive seldom missed any episodes at all, in over 20 years. Crazy, I know.

Ill survive this. Im strong.
