~Can You Say "Occupation"?~

United For Peace and Justice

Duh, people, just duh. What the fuck did you think? That we wanted Saddam out and that would be good enough? That we'd find those WMDs and 'disarm', just like our President said we would? Do you really only get your news from your city's newspaper, no alternative presses, no Interweb sites, no Antiwar.com even? Do you think you're being radical if you switch to BBC America? Or read the NYT online?

Come now. People have to think for themselves, as well. Nothing smelled fishy? Nothing at all? How many US soldiers killed since the Invasion was a "success", and statues toppled? Oh, now it's just storming home after home, killing, taking prisoners, etc. And the odd soldier is killed in the process, or in ambush. What did you expect? When are they coming home? Guess what? They're not!

"As long as it takes" means years. We are going to occupy Iraq. Don't tell me you didn't know that going in. Don't tell me you really thought this was about disarming a dangerous man. Wake up.

This is no surprise to me. None at all. What do you think we were protesting last year, and this year, in January, and in February, March, how long did it go on? How many MILLIONS of people took to the streets around the world to protest INVASION AND OCCUPATION for all the wrong reasons? Why do you think I was riding on buses to go to D.C. and stand on my feet all day with the throngs. We knew. We tried to stop it, we thought our voices would hold some meaning, for someone besides ourselves. We were wrong.

What sites have I been linking to this whole time? Have you read Ramsey Clark's statements yet? Have you clicked on links at Antiwar.com? Read The Guardian yet? It's all out there, it's BEEN out there.

To see/hear this crap on the news right now, like it's NEWS, is insane. Absolutely laughable insanity.

Sorry, they're not coming home. And they'll keep getting killed, and you know why? Because the US is occupying their country, and the people of Iraq want them out, they want us out, the U.S./US! Understand? WMDs??? Huh? Where? Hussein? Where? Bin Laden? Where? Al Qaeda? Huh? What?

Now it's all Road Map, and photo ops, and we're gonna fix the Middle East, and the Jews and the Arabs will all live happily ever after, and it fucking better happen before the election because Bush needs this. It will make him look really, really good.

But Dean is creeping up slowly. He won the MoveOn.org online primary (I voted), and he's bombarding me with emails about how we can do this, we can! I don't know, Howie, but something's got to give.

I need to go watch models vie for a modeling contract now, thanks to Tyra Banks, the ultimate benefactor/'talent' scout.

Politics, Jesus, this is why I don't even talk about it anymore. It's all the same shit. And people are acting like they're really just finding all this out, like everything, all the antiwar propaganda is only now sinking through, like it's been a slow drip through several layers of sheetrock, (had to throw a rain analogy in there, as it's been raining for hours and hours), and now they realize we were right. We were wrong to think we could change anything, but we were right in that we knew what was REALLY going on. To the thinking people of this country, and around the world, it was all obvious since the botched election of 2000. And yes, it can be traced to that fateful November. Read Stupid White Men, and keep your eyes open, your mind as well.
