Friday, Jul. 12, 2002 / 10:20 p.m. ~Loves To Get Me Some Haggis!/Help Me, Please?~ Every time I turned on "A Cook's Tour" it was an episode I'd seen, and I knew, I know, they didn't tape that many, but come on, they're not as good, not as 'fresh' the second time around. But tonight, on Friday night (what's it doing on Friday night?, is it the new time slot?), there was Tony Bourdain in Scotland, and I missed the beginning, the Glasgow portion. But watching that steaming haggis, and Tony shooting a bunny, then Ruth cooking the bunny, Tony touring that big estate, joking about the changes he'd make to the 'crib', oh yes, it reminded me of my fixation on him, how much I adore him, how great it was to meet him, hear him read from his book..... ahhhhhh..... I'm too goddamned lazy to do it myself, but if you search my archives you can read all about the time I met him. Thank god it's preserved somewhere. **Okay, I looked it up and that entry is here. Anyway. Yeah, I just happened to walk into the living room, where the TV has been on since I got home, even while I listened to my NEWEST Moby album which arrived in today's mail ("Ambient" - whoa, totally different, I had to ask me, "Hey, me, is this Moby? How would you know? Are you sure?"), and I switched to Food Network and it was Tony touring Scotland. A show I'd not seen. Yea! Listening to "Ambient" made me want to get online, right away! and post to the Moby boards, tell everyone how I can't believe how different Moby's albums are, how amazing his transformation, and growth, have been, and how the more I delve into his musical history the less I like his newest album. How weird is that? But I wanted to get online on the new PC because I know it will be faster. But I fucking can NOT get online on the new PC, no matter what I do. I am getting an error message telling me my computer cannot connect because I have an invalid username or password. Error message 691. I'm thinking is it because this new PC was on a network? I've added myself as a user, I've changed all the settings I could change. Still, when I log on it asks me to enter my password, just to get to Windows. And I changed the settings, but it still does it. I think it's fucked. It also will not turn off. I have to unplug it. I know my ISP username and password. I can't be wrong about that. Is it because I don't have their actual software installed on the new PC? What software is missing? Look, I plugged in my phone line, entered the dialup number, the protocol info, I don't get it? And I know my ISP will not help, they're too fucking stupid, oh yes, this I know. I need an outside source. I need one of those Mobile Computer helper dudes to come here and deal with this, click on all the right things. Or I need to do heavy research. Neither do I WANT to do. Maybe I'll just never use it. So I threw money away. At least it wasn't a fortune or anything. Dammit. I am so frustrated about it. Oh, my horoscope said I would be. Fucking horoscope. I read it and thought, Pshaw! I'm not confused. My goals have not been rerouted, or whatever it said, that thing is so wrong, the future is not predictable, and then I had my little "you need to be patient today more than ever" episode, wherein I was extremely patient, but recognized I could not solve my problem, and I thought, Hey, wait just one darned minute, you crazy horoscope!!! I'm tired, I'm squinting, even with my glasses on, my hands are hot and they hurt, they hurt so easily it seems, so sensitive to the near CONSTANT keyboard usage every single day. Anyone reading this who can think of anything which might help, or a good site I might visit for help, please let me know. Please. Leave a note or a guestbook entry, thanks.
